I really loved The Demon Trapper's Daughter and couldn't wait to read the next book in this series. I wasn't disappointed. Riley is back, only this time her father has been stolen and reanimated(he's been brought back from the dead), her boyfriend is royally upset at her, and there's a hot guy who is following her around.
What I love about this series is Riley. She's tough yet vulnerable. She can kick demon butt big time but craves a cup of hot chocolate with whip cream. She's a smart mouth but still falls apart thinking of her dead father.
The details in this story are great too from the scene setting to the interactions between Riley and Beck, her father's apprentice, who isn't sure what he thinks of Riley. I couldn't help but hope they'd both realize they really care about each other.
This a fast paced paranormal filled with demons, romance, betrayal, and hope. There's also twists and turns throughout. The one at the end totally surprised me. Let's just say I want to know more. I know readers will agree with me.
I also liked the twist on the whole evil vs. good theme. Let's just say this one doesn't follow the usual rules. There's more gray than black or white. Just like real life.
The romance is believable too. As is the bitter betrayals.
The Soul Thief doesn't follow the usual stereotypes or is a Buffy wannabe novel. No, this one is much more. Riley is a strong heroine with weaknesses and strengths in one thrill seeking tale.
This reader wants more!

Good Points
Really love Riley's character. She's part Buffy, part misunderstood teen
Love the father/daughter relationship too. Ok, so he's dead. Still the love shared between these two is still shown in very believable detail.
