Star Split. Almost twins, split in life never to remain simultaneously. That’s not really the case. Cloning, trouble, crime, government, and execution. These are only parts of Star Split.


Darci lives in the Bio Union. She is a young adult, burgeoning into the more wild teen life. She’s curious, but haunted.


The Bio Union is all about cloning and genetic enhancement. Chemicals from the 2 parents are combined in a laboratory to create a child. Many prototypes are made with valuable qualities such as star athlete or musician. Parents pick the best one. BU also clones an accomplished member of society to keep their integrity alive. This is called umbellation. If the government is not involved in the umbellation, it is illegal. The parents and clones are burned alive.


Darci loves rock-climbing. She begs to attend a high-fashion camp in the summer. Darci is allowed. When she arrives, she is a star. But, more importantly, she meets Vivian, her replica…and guess what?
It isn’t a legal one… Discover the secrets and sadness in Star Split.


I loved Star Split. It kept me going even when I was feeling sick. I didn’t want to stop until I found out what would happen to Darci and Vivian. Would they die? I also wanted to know how her parents could do it. What about Walter and Lana? I would recommend Star Split for ages 14 and up because the vocabulary is difficult and reproductive/genetics may be hard to comprehend.
