Story of A Girl By Sara Zarr
This book was definitely different from what I thought it would be. It was predictable, but the underlying story had a good moral. The story starts off with kind of a preview about a traumatic experience Deanna Lambert, the main character, went through when she was thirteen. She had been dating her older brothers best friend, Tommy. He was seventeen. Deannas father ended up catching them in the act in the back of a car when he followed them out one night. Deannas father really never looked at her the same again, not only that, but he never even talked to her or went near her, and she makes it clear throughout the book that she hates him for it. And from that point on, Deanna is known in Pacifica as the school slut. Deanna has two friends, Jason and Lee, who are a couple, and she eventually develops feelings for Jason (oh-so-predictable.) Deannas older brother, Darren, recently had a baby, named April, with his crazy girlfriend Stacey. The trio is living in Deannas parents basement until they can afford to get their own place. Deanna ends up getting and job and GUESS WHO WORKS THERE. Her ex boy-toy, Tommy. Lots of drama in this book, but its really insightful for a girl to read. Its kind of a behind the scenes book that tells what you school slut actually thinks. I hated the ending though, I thought Jason and Deanna would end up together or Darren, Deanna, Stacey and April would all move out together. I was wrong. Read it for yourself, dudes. Later.
