Walker, Nortie, Lion, and Jeff are all seniors in high school and are the only members of the swim team. They are very close friends, despite their many differences and problems, and only become closer during Stotan week, an intensive training and bonding session that their coach holds for one week. As they learn more about each other, their friendships stretch in new ways, and Stotan! becomes the rallying cry for the new tragedies they must face.

Chris Crutcher knows how to write about teenagers in a vivid and captivating style. This is not just a jock novel, or a friendship novel, or a high school novel-- it's all three and much more. Read it-- you'll like it.
