The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley is a great story for readers who enjoy a story full of action, adventure, fantasy, and a touch of romance.
The story is about "plain jane" sort of young lady, Harry, who moves to the desert colony of her motherland. Her life is quite boring there, for she doesn't have much to do. However, she finds changing when she is kidnapped by the king of the natives, Corlath. She has no idea why she was kidnapped, and ironically, neither does her kidnapper, Corlath! Harry is soon introduced to a new life and from there, she undergoes a transformation where she learns more about herself, her strength, and her purpose in life.
This book may start out slow, but once she is kidnapped, things just pick up! The descriptions are so vivid that you can see it actually happening in front of you! The characters are realistic, and you can really see how Harry matures throughout the story!
Once again, this is perfect for teens and adults who enjoy Lord of the Rings, and for those who want to read stories about a kick ass girl!
