There's demons. Magic. An ancient curse. And chess. Grubbs Grady has been taught chess since a very young age. He's never wondered why. But, unfortunately for him, the answer is going to alter his life forever. One day he enters his home to discover the place in ruins. His mom, dad and sister dead. Soon he finds himself tossed into a world where magic is real, demons want to kill you and a curse hovering over his shoulder. Darren Shans prose is filled with gruesome details and every page is filled with action. Theres never a dull moment in this particular novel.
