THE DEN THAT OCTOPUS BUILT gives facts about Octopuses in a repetitive rhyme reminiscent of THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. The writing style allows for a fact to be shared in a simple format with an illustration to support it. The illustrations are done in an inviting-colored pencil style that I think would do well sold as a blank coloring book so the audience could also color in the lovely drawn pictures. I enjoyed the in-depth facts in the back of the book and learned that Octopi is not the correct plural form of the word and that Octopuses have a lot of brains! Overall, this book would be great for young elementary students who are curious to learn more about Octopuses and need something told in a picture-book style of writing.
