I don't generally read fantasy, but I stole this book from my brother and really loved it.
It's the story of a 17yr old boy, named Mathew Lewin who finds a mysterious ring his ancestors created 3000 years after they destroyed themselves. Mathew has no idea what the ring is, or what it does, and has to learn the hard way when an evil king send a band of creatures after him to get it back.
These are the best action scenes I've ever read and I'd have no problem recommending THE FIFTH RING to anyone over 12.
