When I read the blurb for this book and the series, I was intrigued. I grew up reading the Ann M. Martin series The Babysitter's Club so I was excited to read this new series.

What I liked: I enjoyed the historical aspect. It was interesting to read about events like the Cuban Missile Crisis and President Kennedy's assassination from the perspective of a teenage girl and her family. I'm interested to see how the next two books in this series move forward in different/more recent times.

What left me wanting more: Dana was a difficult character for me to like. She was at times very selfish and it was very easy for her to walk away from her family when things got tough and go back to New York with her aunt. I understand this is all part of her character and as the series moves forward, I'm sure we will learn even more about Dana.

Final Verdict: I'm interested to read the next two books in the series. I think this is a series worth investing in.
