A true, literary masterpiece. It would rival any of the most adored & best loved books in the realm of the written word. Gemma Mawdsley has done fantastically what all writer's set out to do, capture the reader from the get go. An absolute page turner.

The Paupers' Graveyard is as true to the horrifically macabre as it is to historical fact. Well researched, brilliantly thought out & fantastically brought to life through the narrative skill of the author.
I absolutely love the way that the author has inter-woven the living world with that of the spectral. Gemma Mawdsley takes you on a journey not just through the here & now but also back in time to that of the great famine, on this journey we are introduced to some loveable characters & some not so, in particular the detestable & repulsive 'Black Jack' Carey.
This book has it all from the Love & Laughter to the total opposite of Death, Horror & even the downright Macabre.
Why couldn't The Paupers' Graveyard have been on the curriculum when I was in school?
I would highly recommend this book to all & I cannot wait to see what next comes from the eerie world of Gemma Mawdsley!
