The Race for Polldovia is the adventure of young 9 year old Sophia, whom often has vivid daydreams of a princess and her kingdom called Polldovia. One day she finds herself in the world of Polldovia with Princess Polly in the middle of a dangerous quest to prevent war. Can Sophie and Polly save Polldovia? Better yet can Sophie ever return home again?
The Good: I could definitally see my middleschool self loving this book. It would have graced my shelf of honor right next to Ella Enchanted and Our Old May-Amiela books I read over and over back then. The cover is so beautiful!! Serious thumbs up to the cover designer.
The Bad: I have noticed others did not enjoy the vague ending. I however will be nuetral on it. Though it was vague it left me, the reader, with the need to imagen what will happen next. So I do not really see this as a bad thing, but I can understand why would think so.
The Book: Overall Race for Polldovia would make a good read for any middleschooler interested in fighting princesses and those with the love of adventure! For me, it was hard to write out a review because I know that my take on this book would be different than if I were younger; the target audience. As an adult though, I can still the potenital this has on young readers and I can see this book being on their shelf of honor to reread. I think the author will most likely, and should, write a sequel. I am sure those who truely enjoyed this book will be excited for the sequel. I know I will be.
