My favorite sister bought me this conclusion to Rick Riordan's Kane Cronicles trilogy for my birthday and I was so excited for it, especially since I loved the first two installments. What I was looking forward to: the slaying/banishment of Apophis, emotional resolution between the Kane siblings and their parents, finding some way to save both Bes and Walt, and happy romantic endings for Carter and Sadie.

Verdict: 3.5 stars

Good Points

What I liked: The cover of this novel, for one. I mean, look at it, it's pretty epic with those contrasting oranges and blues against the tall white obelisk in the background. Second, Carter finally came in to his own and became a true leader for the forces of Ma'at. They did find a way to save Bes and that was linked to their banishment of Apophis. So, they saved the world, restored the ways of old magic (after the paths of the gods), and said good-bye to their parents. Oh, and did I mention that Carter and Zia have a happy ending? Well, they do.
