"You are more than you think you are." Seventeen year old Beth Michaels isn't sure what the mysterious gold letter that arrived at her school means, but she knows something weird is going on. She has started to see spots all over her mom's and best friend's faces. Sometimes she sees cords coming out of people and connecting them to other people. When she kisses Richie, a guy from the junior college she attends since she finished all her highschool courses early, both of their mouthes are literally burnt. She hopes things will get better when she has surgery on her eyes, but they get much worse. Now she sees other people's secrets. She feels their experiences when she touches them or something they have touched. After finding more golden letters her mom has hidden from her and her best friend turning on her, Beth isn't sure who to trust. Yet after being locked up in a psyche ward by her mother, Beth begins to find answers when she befriends a girl who Beth has no way of knowing is mute. Will Beth discover why she has these special abilities? What is the secret that her mother is so desperate to hide from her that she's willing to lie to Beth's psychiatrist to convince him Beth is delusional? Will she get the chance to explore the new feelings she discovers with Richie? Read the Seven Rays by Jessica Bendinger to find out.
Seven Rays is a really good book. It is about finding out who you are and accepting what that means. If you like books with a paranormal tilt, a great plot, and a little romance thrown in, then you are going to love this book.
