Katie and Michaela Wilder are sisters as well as best friends. They have the same group of friends and the same group of activities. Both born in New York City, they both love the feel of concrete beneath their feet, the roar of the subway and the glamour of their world-class dance school. However, things change and they have to move from the city to a town called Fir Lake that has cows, fields and mountains. It is basically a city girls worst nightmare. Katie is suffering from city and shopping withdrawal while Michaela transforms into a little social butterfly. Michaela finds a bunch of new friends and starts to go out with the hot quarterback. Katie, thinking that her sister had betrayed her, is wondering whether or not her sister is actually related to her. After finding that her sister had hid a jaw-dropping secret, does she even want to be related and know anymore? This book reminds us of the importance of having sisters and having someone that you trust. It also talks about the importance of fitting in and learning to understand your surroundings. It is no good to remain stuck in a city-mode when you are in a country area. As Katie learns to deal with her problems, she finds that it does not matter where she is or where she lives, what matters is what she does and how she gets along in doing it.
