When I first started reading the book I was surprised how far the author went with some of the thing Theodora went thru--particularly the casting director thing. Ick! And to have Dora only 13 when he propositioned her? It made me wodner how often that stuff goes on & of course how many young actresses got their careers started that way. Frightening stuff.

I was also surprised by how advanced Dora was for her age and the fact she had an affair with an older married actor when she was so young. I did think the datign two twins at the same time was a little much to show how far from a normal reality she had gone.

The high points of the book, and the areas that showed the best plot & characters, were seeing how Emily's mom had changed since she had re-married and had a baby. The scenes with Em furious that her ste-dad put all the parenting stuff on ehr mom was brilliant cause I was totally feelign the same way. Another scene that hit me was when she asked a guy to the movies (a Theodora Twist movie naturally) and she gets upset that afterwards the guy's so wrapped up in how "hot" Theodora is that it's hard for him to come back to "reality." Also, the part where he admits he doesn't even know her name is heartbreaking!

All in all this is a good story. A little advanced for some readers, but a well-thought book.
