Peter Pan is a tale that I have always loved. With its magic and light-heartedness it has always captivated me. I have been waiting for another retelling of Peter Pan to cross my path and I was so excited when this one did. While it didn't live up to all my expectations for it, I still enjoyed Tiger Lily and the unique point of view it offered on the classic everyone loves.
First off, Tiger Lily is told from Tinkerbell's point of view. HOW COOL IS THAT? I absolutely loved getting inside Tink's head, as she is the character who never speaks. I thought this was a brilliant choice on Jodi Lynn Anderson's part, as Tink is the character too who cannot speak to the characters in the book as well.
The story was really intriguing. I loved hearing more about Tiger Lily's past. It was a really touching story. My one issue was the book was so slow. Because of the slow pace, the story really dragged. There were high points where the story started to get more involved but it would always plateau back down.
I was not as into the book and some of the characters also fell flat for me, as did certain key plot points. I wanted there to be more behind some of the characters and for certain plot points to be explored more. Overall, I liked everything that went on, I just wanted more.
Tiger Lily was a good story. It didn't reach the potential I thought it had and was slower, but it is still worth a read. With its clever insight into Tinkerbell's mind and Tiger Lily's past, Tiger Lily is a book for fans of Peter Pan.
