For an early birthday present, Sam's mom gets her an antique necklace. When Sam wrecks her Dad's BMW, she holds the charm and wishes she was somewhere else. She wakes up to find she is in sick King Edward's bedchamber. Using modern medical knowledge, she heals Edward and advances to his right hand. The Duke of Northumberland is jealous of her because her opinion is more important to the King than his. Soon Edward suggests he and Sam get married. When Sam forms a relationship with the King's former whipping boy, the Duke finds this a perfect situation to get her out of the King's favor.
I liked this book because it never slowed down. It had parts of this time and parts of medieval times. I liked her and the former whipping boy's relationship.
