The reader follows three friends-Zoe, Maddie and Angela-as they enter the tenth grade. The whole book is composed in IMs (instant messages) and through this format, the reader is able to get a feel for each of the three personalities in the book. It's hard to actually summarize the book because there isn't just one plot. Each of the characters has their own complicated life which they discuss which each other online, aside from the normal everyday girly chatter.
The IM format is very true to life. I felt like I was really reading people's IMs. (Definitely appealing to read other people's private converstaions!) It kind of got annoying after reading a whole book in that format, but it was still a good book and I basically read it one sitting. Well, in one day anyway. I definitely recommend the book and I'm going to go check out the sequel "ttfn"!
