"We Hug Night Night" is a story that captures those precious end-of-day moments we all treasure with the kids in our lives. This book features clever die-cut pages that encourage little hands to get involved in exploring the book. Once you meet a pair of animals coming to the end of their day, you get to turn the page transforming their evening activities into the sweetest goodnight hugs. And since these sturdy board book pages can handle enthusiastic toddler "help," you don't have to worry about them getting torn when those little hands get too excited to change the picture!
This book shows all different kinds of animal pairs sharing these bedtime moments. The relationships between the grown-up animal and the baby are left open-ended, so every child can see themselves and their special grown-up reflected in these loving relationships. As someone who's worked with diverse families through library storytime, I appreciate how the book keeps these bonds open to interpretation - it could be a parent, grandparent, or any caring adult in a child's life.
The illustrations are just adorable (the cuddly otters on the cover are why I first picked up this book), but they do more than just look pretty. They actually help guide little ones through the transition from active time to sleep time - something we all know can be difficult! “We Hug Night Night” has become one of our favorite ways to end the day, creating those magical moments of connection that make bedtime feel less like a task and more like a treat.
