WHO WORKS AT NIGHT? is a charming oversized board book that introduces the concept of night jobs to young readers. The book features a rhyme that focuses on a different type of night job on each page spread, such as baker, fisherman, and doctor. Flaps appear throughout for added discovery.

What I loved: This is a really fun oversized book with lift-the-flap features. Each page spread had 3-4 flaps to explore with images behind them, such as the bus that lifts up to see the people inside. The images were quite colorful, even with the jobs taking place at nighttime, and captured plenty of detail in each scene. The rhymes really rolled off the tongue and made for a charming story to read aloud as well as to listen to.

The text was strategically placed such that it was easily readable throughout. For the soothing rhymes and nighttime theme, this book would work well as a bedtime pick! With the flaps and colorful, quickly turning pages, this will work very well for toddlers and preschoolers.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, some of the flaps were really tough to open on the first read, which led to some tears, as the paper was about cardstock thickness (particularly the windows with the side-by-side opening flaps). Additionally, there was not extra information about each job or the things shown in the flaps, which would have been helpful (though parents can narrate these for little ones as desired).

Final verdict: WHO WORKS AT NIGHT? is a delightful oversized lift-the-flap board book that is sure to charm young readers!
