From book jacket: For seventeen-year-old actress Kelley Winslow, faeries are just something from childhood stories. Then she meets Sonny Flannery, whose steel-gray eyes mask an equally steely determination to protect her.
Sonny guards the Samhain Gate, which connects the mortal realm with the Faeries enchanted, dangerous Otherworld. Usually kept shut by order of icy King Auberon, the Gate stands open but once a year.
This year, as the time approaches when the Samhain Gate will swing wide and nightmarish Fae will fight their way into an unsuspecting Human world, something different is happening& something wondrous and strange. And Kelleys eyes are opening not just to the Faerie that surround her but to the heritage that awaits her.
Now Kelley must navigate deadly Faerie treachery and her growing feelings for Sonny in this dazzling page-turner filled with luminous romance.

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: Sonny: I like it when the guy love interests are protective&!

When I finished this book I felt: I was a bit disappointed. I did like it, but it wasnt as amazing as I thought it would be. For a first novel I thought it was good& but Ive read better books& nothing about this one really stuck with me.

Other books to read by this author: this is the authors first book

I would recommend this book to: teen supernatural romance readers

've wanted this book for a
while. I'll admit, it was the title that first captured my attention
and inspired a serious case of book lust. The cover is so striking and
pulled me in, but the story kept me enthralled. I'm a theater kid and
love Shakespeare. In particular, I love A Midsummer Night's Dream (I've
read it more than a few times). I loved how Livingston wove
Shakespeare's tale with her own. I also enjoyed the realistic depiction
of theater rehearsals. Kelley was an interesting heroine, at times
confused and at other times defiant. Her relationship with Sonny was
fascinating. I loved how changelings and the faerie courts were
incorporated. This book felt fresh and new, putting interesting twists
on the known. The plot moved along rapidly, and I was unable to put the
book down. There were a few twists and turns, including a major one
near the end. The enjoyable cast of supporting characters constantly
added layers of richness to the tale. I was astonished to find that
this is a debut, and can't wait to see more from Ms. Livingston. This
is a beautiful tale full of magic that lovers of fantasy and
Shakespeare will enjoy.

Beyoootiful! Loved it! If you haven't read this book, READ IT. I can't get over how much I loved this book, it was so, so, good. The plot was moving and filled with many twists and surprises, the ending was fabulous, and the characters were super awesome!

Kelley, the main character, is a teenage actress trying to make it in NYC, and she finally gets her chance to shine as lead Titiana in the play Mid-Summer's Night Dream. But don't get her wrong, she's not the type of girl all dramatic and conceited, she actually very down to earth, short tempered, and devoted to her work. Oh, and she has a very big secret, one so big that even she doesn't know what it is. But Sonny does.

Yes Sonny, the yummy human/faerie knight, he knows who and what Kelley is, and he can't help but being attracted to her (who wouldn't, she's gorgeous) but it's a lost cause because there's no way he could be with her. A match made for heaven but only available in hell.

Kelly is a 17 year old understudy given her big break when the woman playing Titania in an-off broadway production of a Midsummer Nights Dream is injured. The world of Faerie becomes all too real for her soon after she saves a drowning horse in Central Park and captures the attention of Sonny Flannery, a human changeling guarding the gates between Faerie and Earth.

The combination of magical elements from Celtic lore, the excitement of the theatre and the feisty cast of characters ensnared my attention from the start, and left me gasping for a sequel at the end. I liked how the story switched from Kellys point of view to Sonnys and the surprises that unfolded at the end. I did not see those coming. The supporting characters all had their distinct personalities and were memorable. Thinking about the horse in the bathtub chomping on lucky charms still makes me smile! I LOVED this book.

I was just reading Yan's review on this [no link because I'm too lazy :] and I have to admit, I totally agree with her. Just like Tithe. They both have so many things related: 1) seemingly innocent, mortal girl 2) finds out that she's actually not mortal and is in fact, one of the faeries 3) a handsome young man who the girl is not supposed to like for various reasons and 4) there is danger. See? Totally related and similar. But I probably like this book better because I love the horse (hahaha, he's so cute looking or cute sounding) and it's like another look on Tithe but written in a different way. Anyway, the ending was weird but I'm not going to say it otherwise I'll spoil it...which I probably did already from reason #2. :( Sorry guys!
