HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Good Points
The characters are some of THE BEST in fantasy (and fiction in general). I love the Tolkein made creatures such as elves and dwarves so believable and likable! So, so good.
Another one of my favorite things about this book is the tangible fear that all of the main characters feel towards the ring. They don't even want to touch it because they're scared they'll be corrupted by it. What a COOL concept! So awesome.

This is one of my favorite books. The world building is superb, the characters are distinct and worth reading about, and the stakes are high. I fell in love with Middle Earth, and with hobbits, after reading this book. This story is vividly imagined and worth reading again and again.

The Fellowship of the Ring is a great book. I watched the movie beforehand and read the book right after and didn't quite understand it. I reread it recently and could really appreciate what a talented writer J.R.R. Tolkien was. The book follows the beginning of Frodo Baggin's journey to destroy the One Ring.

Lord of the rings is a master piece of a novel. The first book really kicks of fantasy novels, it has a special quality that transports to faraway places and makes it feel like youre in the book instead of your room. The fellowship of the ring nicely starts of the trilogy and ends with a cliff hanger.
Saron a spirit, turns evil and tricks the elves to make a number of magic rings. After a great war Saron is defeated but his spirit lives on in the most powerful ring. 3000 years later the ring falls into the hands of a Frodo the hobbit. Frodo and his friends join a fellowship seeking Sarons demise. After travelling under mountains and through forests the fellow ship breaks and all hope is lost.
The fellow ship is one of the greatest books of the 20th century and perhaps the 21th.

The black horses were filled with madness, and leaping forward in terror they bore their riders into the rushing flood. Their piercing cries were drowned in the roaring of the river as it carried them away. Then Frodo felt himself falling, and the roaring and confusion seemed to rise and engulf him
together with his enemies. He heard and saw no more.
That is the end of the first half of The Fellowship of the Ring, the first book in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Fellowship of the Ring is a fantasy book and is told in third person point of view. I really liked the book. It was long and had small print, but was still fun to read. It is a lot different from the movie. You have to put a lot of time into reading it.
The book is about a hobbit named Frodo who lives in the Shire with his uncle Bilbo. On Bilbos one hundred eleventh birthday Gandalf the wizard to do one his famous fireworks shows. Bilbo disappears while giving a speech and Gandalf finds it is the ring Bilbo made him disappear and is making him live longer. Gandalf asks to see the ring and Bilbo, who has become so attached to it wouldnt let it go. Eventually Bilbo gave Gandalf the ring and Bilbo left the Shire.
Gandalf told Frodo that he had to take the ring to Mt. Doom in Mordor to destroy it in the volcano. The ring was an evil ring created by Sauron and can only be destroyed in Mt. Doom. Frodo and his friends Sam, Merry, and Pippin set off to destroy the ring in Mt. Doom. Along the way they met some strange people. Such as Tom Bombadil. He lives in the woods and saved the hobbits from man-eating trees by singing to the trees. He also gave them plenty of food and provisions. They are also being chased by evil Ringwraiths who are trying to get the ring and bring to Suaron. They also meet Strider, a man who was given special orders by Gandalf to help the hobbits, and some elves who help them on their journey to Mordor.

When Frodo's elderly cousin Bilbo leaves the hobbit hole the two share after a birthday celebration Frodo finds himself the owner of the magical ring Bilbo won from Gollum, which turns the wearer invisible. Years pass, and Frodo is growing rather fond of the ring when Gandalf, a wizard who was once a friend of Bilbo and is now a friend of Frodo, arrives with grave news and commands Bilbo to take the ring to the House of Elrond, to Rivendell.
I very rarely admit this, but when I first read this book I hated it, but for some reason I have not yet worked out I read it again, and again, and again, until it grew on me like mold. When my parents got me a copy of it for my birthday last year I was so happy I nearly cried, and since then there has never been a day when I do not have a bookmark somewhere in Lord of the Rings.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone, and suggest you read it a few times through because it just gets better and better and better.

This book is the best fantasy I have ever read, and I have read the Harry Potter series. The book is about Frodo Baggins who sets off on a quest to destroy the evil Sauron's Ring. Others soon join him and they become the Fellowship. It takes too long to explain the story. The movies are awesome too. I am definetly going to read the rest of the trilogy.

The Fellowship of the Ring is the first part of the famous J. R. R. Tolkein's trilogy The Lord of the Rings, which the superb writing skills of the author make a delight to read.
The story takes place in the Middle-earth. It's about a young hobbit named Frodo who has inherited a mysterious golden ring. Forces of evil, led by Sauron, the dark Lord of Mordor, are searching for The Ring, because whoever owns it will have the power to rule the world. So, Frodo has to deliver The Ring to the Mount Doom, the only place where it could be destroyed. Filled with amazing creatures, such as orcs, dwarves and walking trees, the book leaves a long-lasting impression on the reader.
I like The Fellowship of the Ring because it's really breath-taking. I think J. R. R. Tolkein is extremely successful in creating the different characters in the book, showing both their individuality and the way they join together to overcome the numerous obstacles and challenges in the name of their important task.
The Fellowship of the Ring is rich and detailed in plot. Fast moving, gloomy or immensely amusing at times, it has something for everyone. Tolkein skillfully introduces magnificent descriptions of nature and the book is abundant with many interesting dialogues, which all readers would enjoy.
The Fellowship of the Ring is a universal story of hope, courage, love, of good triumphing over evil and the cost of such victory - a book which is worth reading!

Frodo Baggins inherits a magical ring but the ring is actually evil. Frodo and some other of friends depart on a journey to the only place that they can destroy it, Mount Doom, in the middle of enemy territory, when the good wizard, Gandalf, tells Frodo to go. Frodo and his friends must survive wraith attacks and people who wish to possess the ring among other things. When they reach an elf sanctuary, Frodo is joined by other people, an elf and a dwarf thus creating the Fellowship of the ring. Read the book to find out what happens to Frodo and the Ring.
I thought the book was really boring. It wasn't funny and it dragged on so long at some parts. I don't know how I got through it. The movie is so much better and intresting.

I was and always will be blown away by the amazing amount of depth that the books of the Lord of the Rings trilogy hold. While I was reading the Fellowship of the Ring I never felt like I was reading a story, but a history. The breathtaking worlds and endearing characters that Tolkein has created will be with me always. Though the Fellowship of the Ring is classified as a Fantasy, once you read it you will begin to feel that it is all real. Frodo and his companions begin what seems like a simple journey in the Fellowship and upon coming to Rivendell and hearing the full truth of what their journey will ultimately encompass they realize that it is no small matter at all. I'm captivated at the commeradery in the Fellowship, the nine companions always there for one another, even if it means risking their own life for another. In our modern times of troubles and lacking relationships it warms my heart to know I can turn to the Fellowship of the Ring and find all that my day may be lacking at the time. A book filled with intrigue, excitement, love and spirit it's not one that should be passed up but read over and over again!
