On my honer. On my honer is a good book for children around the ages of 12 and 11. It is very short. It all starts with 2 boys who wanted to go to the park all the way across town on there bikes. one of the boys father makes them promise that the wont go any where near the river. while they pass the river one of the boys who is kind of a dare devil says we should go in there. Disobeying the fathers orders something bad happens. That's all you can read the rest to find out.
Joel didn't want to get in the river. He didn't want to go ride his bike so far out. But, he did, and can he ever live with the consequences when he gets out the water and Tony never will.
It all started with a bike ride. Joel and Tony went on a bike ride to go climb the bluffs. On the way, Tony dares Joel to go swim in the river. Its on. The both go in and make it to the other side. Then on the way back, something happens to Tony, and he never makes it to the other side.
This is really a sad book, because the ending doesn't leave everyone happy, at all. At first, Joel keeps it a secret that Tony has died. Then, everyone gets curious. Finally, he tells them all that, yes Tony died, and he blames it on himself.
So I would not reccommend reading this book without being prepared for Tony to die. Its just such a ruiner of your day thing, but it also makes you think about death and stuff. And, of course, you feel so sorry for poor Joel, when he can't get the stink of the river off his clothes, just like in the Tell-Tale Heart.
Two years ago,I had to read this book for Language Arts class. Seriously, this story might as well take up only a measly page.
It is about a boy named Joel and his friend Tony. They do something extremely dumb:they try to swim in a raging river. Tony drowns and Joel feels bad about it and blames himself throughout most of the book. Pretty stupid book, huh? This was one of the dumbest and the most pointless books that I have ever read. I am telling you:DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!!!!
This story was really sad. So sad I nearly cried, and that's something I rarely do. In this case., it called for sadness. The plot moves quickly and is very involving. The story of friendship gone tragic is very relatable to anyone who's lost a friend or loved one. But it was too sad for me and wasn't very uplifting.
