Welcome to Echo Falls.Home of a thousand secrets, where Ingrid Levin-Hill, super sleuth, never knows what will happen next. Ingrid is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or at least her shoes are. Getting them back means getting involved in a murder investigation rivaling those solved by her idol, Sherlock Holmes, and Ingrid has enough on her plate with club soccer, school, and the plum role of Alice in the Echo Falls production of Alice in Wonderland. But much as in Alice's adventures down the rabbit hole, things in Ingrid's small town keep getting curiouser and curiouser. Her favorite director has a serious accident onstage (but is it an accident?), and the police chief is on Ingrid's tail, grilling her about everything from bike-helmet law to the color of her cleats. Echo Falls has turned into a nightmare, and Ingrid is determined to wake up. Edgar Award-nominated novelist Peter Abrahams builds suspense as a smart young girl finds that her small town isn't nearly as safe as it seems.

I didn't really like this one. I finished it in about three days over summer and when I finised I was still like 'whhaaaaaa?'. So, it was a bit confusing. Maybe it was beacause I had just finished Stephen King's 'It', but I felt the flow was slow and some what boring.

Final Line-Confusing, Lack of Fluency, 2/5

I actually forgot all about this book, until I saw it on the list. I really enjoyed it and will go through my shelfs at home so I can bring this one to school for my students. If you have thought about mysterys or even if you already love them Ingred is a great character to get your feet wet with. This is a very fast paced book that will leave you wanting more to read!

How would you feel if you get lost, just once, and end up with solving a murder? That's how Ingrid feels. She makes the mistake of trying to get to practice on her own and ends up in the flats. When someone is there to offer help, she takes it, and ends up hearing a murder. She could walk away, but she makes the mistake of leaving her red soccer cleats at the seen.

When she needs them back, and tries to get them but, she gets in even more trouble. If being on the soccer team and the lead role of a play isn't enough Ingrid has to follow her role model Sherlock Holmes and and solve the murder she listened to all by herself. It would be great to work alone and stay away from the police, but the chief is the father of the guy she likes. Down the rabbit hole is right, if being in the play isn't enough one of her costars is in fact a criminal who is leading a double life. He returns to his hometown not for friends and fun but, to finish the job he started.
And who says drama is just for the stage? If you are in the mood for a great mystery filled with action, teenage life and murder, this is for you.

Ingrid enjoys red, soccer and acting. She dislikes math, the orthodontist and her older brother (who is an up and coming football star). Her dislike of getting her teeth straighten starts the entire story, as she decides to walk to soccer practice after her appointment, only to get lost. She ends up meeting Cracked-Up Katie and when Kate is found murdered a few days later, Ingrid must do everything she can to hide the fact she was at Kates house. As she tries to stay away from the police, Ingrid finds herself getting more and more interested in the mystery, as strange things begin to happen. She also does a lot of research, which proves to be near fatal when she discovers the murderer.

Overall, this is a thrilling mystery that kids and teens will enjoy, especially those that like a girl sleuth. Ingrid is a likeable character, and Abrahams has drawn her realistically, from her family relations to her budding romance to her fear of doing the wrong thing (either to get into college or get caught for being at the crime scene). The book ended rather abruptly, though, which was disconcerting, and I was ready to smack Ingrid several times throughout the book as she tried to cover up her involvement with Kate. A couple of things felt a little unfinished as welllike her braces were quite prominent at the beginning, but kind of dropped out of the picture near the middle and end. There also is a little gratuitous language thrown in. Some of it fits, but most really wasnt necessary. I did enjoy how she did research and how she managed to do well at math and soccer when she wasnt concentrating so hard on doing well (her subconscious took over). Overall it was a nice mystery.

Loved this book. If it's good enough for Stephan King, it's good enough for me. I loved this mystery and again, it was another book I just could not put down.

Ingrid plays soccer, forgets to do her math homework, and likes Sherlock Holmes, I guess you could say that she is an average girl until you hear that she is involved with a murder. Of course she didn't actually kill anyone, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time or at least her shoes are. Yes, her red Pumas are the real reason she's in this mess and is sneaking off at night, tampering with evidence, and trying to find the real murderer before he finds her. This book is really good and has a lot of plot twists and unfinished mini-stories; but I didn't like how the murderer was extremely evident even in the begining.
