The Book of Dreams: The Life Story of a Teenage Girl by self-published authoress, Ashley Lauren Boettcher is filled with dreams, hopes and fantasies.
The book has a very interesting and different storyline. It revolves around a teen girl, Morgan, whose life has been difficult ever since her parents divorced when she was twelve years old. The story follows Morgan as she moves to New York and has to overcome several troubles: both in school and at home.
But, Morgan is a girl who likes to dream of a better future. And, inspite of certain set-backs, she always comes back stronger.
In ways, this book touches all the aspects of teen life: angst, rebelion, insecurity, finding one's identity etc.
Although the book was very good, the end, I feel, was rather abrupt. In fact, the main part of the book was completed in about 50 pages (the whole book is 288 pages). Also, I feel that the book was too fairy-tale like.
Another problem with the book was that the printing wasn't very professional.
But, the wonderful quotes at the begining of every chapter certainly makes up for these faults.
In all, Life Story of a Teenage Girl is a wondeful read if you have a long day to spare. It certainly isn't a light read and the story is bound to stay with you for a long time.
