Scottie's life is changing, and not for the better. She feels like she's losing her best friend, Amanda, and her mom has morphed into the new It girl of Chicago's art world. It feels just like the bottom is about to drop out of her world completely, and then she's thrown a cashmerino lifeline when she discovers KnitWit, her local yarn store. There she and Amanda meet new friends Bella and Tay, and soon all four girls are bound together by their yen for yarn and their hunger for friendship. Soon the stitches and the friendships become so intertwined, it's hard to remember which came first--the girls or the purls.

At her aunt's funeral, Scottie receives a pair of sticks and yarn after watching a relative knitting. She reluctantly starts knitting one night when she can't stop thinking about her aunt, and soon becomes a part of the Knit Wit group. Knit Wit is a place she feels happy and loved, but when her friends start changing, she holds on to the faith that knitting will bring them back together.

Chicks with Sticks is a story about friendship and knitting. It shows the importance of having close friends and always sticking by them no matter what. Scottie and her friends go through many difficult times, but at the end they will always be there for each other.

From a lonely book worm, comes the tale of when her up-tight, could-be-quaker mother finaly let her get her hands on YA book, the first that I read all those years ago... *duh, duh, duh, duh music*

Scottie is at her Favorite Aunts Funeral when a relative shoves knitting needles into her greiving hands. Scottie, to cool to be seen with sticks, shoves them and the yarn into her bag. later that week she pulls them out a starts a lowley scarf. Soon she hooked on kniting and pulls her friend Amanda into it. The twosome soon becomes a threesome when Bella, the Karma loving, green, gauzey skirt queen joins them. Threes a crowd but fours perfect when Tay picks up sticks. Tay stands out as a Goth, punk, madly in love Sk*Rgrl. The girls, or Chicks with Sticks, decide that Tay should knit her Crush a sweater, The ollie. I would tell you what heappened after that, but what fun would that be. Go to Book store, Buy book, Never regrett it!!!!!!! I loved it, Could you tell.

Check out the sequell Chicks with sticks ( knit two together) when Scottie falls in love, Tay has a boyfriend (not who you think) and Bella swears off boys.
