This was a really cute book, and it has a unique theme and outlook. Fran is a psychic that can read people's thoughts and emotions just by touching them. But all she ever wanted was to be a normal person and blend in with her surroundings. But that was kind of hard to do when she is traveling around with the Gothfaire (a bunch of witches, palm readers, magicians, and mind readers). She was becoming desperate until Ben stepped in. Ben is a Dark One (Vampire) who believes that Fran is his Beloved, and the only one who can save his soul. But Fran doesn't want things to get any weirder than they are...even if that meant losing a totally hottie for a potential boyfriend. And there are bigger fish to fry anyway. Someone has been stealing from the faire, and it is up to Fran to figure it out. Will she find the culprit in time? And will she give into Ben and become his Beloved?

The book "got fangs?" was amazing, it's hilarious, short and talks about "Fray" a sixteen year old girl who always thinks she's a freak and whose mom is a witch and who has been forced to move with her to Europe where her mom works in fair filled with people who have supernatural powers, althought Fray seems to be an average girl, she has a power of reading minds and emotions by just touching people, but what she doesn't know is that she is about to meet a vampire guy who claims that she's his beloved and she's the only one who can save him from his curse!

Fran is a giant and that makes her stand out even amongst the weirdos she knows at the traveling show for all with special talents. Fran also has the ability to read people's minds by touching them. Which brings about problems. Things get even weirder when a hot guy comes to town who just happens to be a vampire. Mayhem ensues and fun (or not fun) is had by all.

I liked the book. Fran was fun and her gang of characthers were hilarious to read, and i had a fun time reading about her romance with Benedikt. I thought the book was missing something and i hope the sequel is better.

I love Katie Maxwell's adult books (she writes under the pen-name Kate McAlister) Her young adult books have the same sharp humor and fresh tone of voice as her other books. I especially enjoy her "vampire" series. The really neat thing about this book is how she has combined Norse folklore (Loki) with vampires for a fresh twist. Her young adult protagonist reacts just as my middle-school students would and her mother reacts just as my mother would. An otherall enjoyable series by one of my favorite young authors.

Fran has always wanted a "normal" life, but when your mom is a witch, that's just not going to happen. Especially if said witch has dragged you out of school for the year and has you traveling Europe with her-- her and the GothFaire, that is. By the way, a GothFaire is a traveling group of witches, magicians, psychics, and other what are commonly refered to as weirdos. But when Benedikt joins GothFaire, Fran thinks things might be looking up, because he is completely hot. Hot enough to overlook the fact that he is a vampire, and she is supposed to redeem his soul. Despite all that, it's nice to have someone not think she's a freak, for a change, even if she is the most normal one with the Faire. And his kissing isn't half-bad either. Katie Maxwell employs her usual humor to something not usually thought of as humorous: vampires, and the result is magical.
