The Second Virginity of Suzy Green
Sara Hantz
Suzy Green could not have felt worse about what happened to her older sister Rose. Her parents were even more torn up, Suzy figured, because Rose was the perfect one in the family. So when her dads job sends their family to another city, Suzy uses this as a chance to recreate herself and her image. She does not drink anymore. She works harder than she ever has before in school. She even thinks about joining a few clubs, until she finds out that the cool thing is&
Virginity club. Almost everyone at her new school is part of the virginity club. There is one little problem, though. Suzy does not exactly meet the requirements to join the virginity club. But she joins anyways. She figures her secret is safe until her ex boyfriend from camp, Ryan, shows up in town. Now, shes crossing her fingers, hoping he wont spill her secret.
The Second Virginity of Suzy Green was definitely something Im glad I got the chance to read. The story was cute; the characters were bright and even witty. There were some points where I just wanted to laugh out loud, and at other times I felt so sad for Suzy. And, of course, it didnt hurt that Sara Hants threw in a few cute boys and one huge obsession for Starbucks, either.

The death of the near perfect Rosie left a pretty big impact on her sister, Suzy Green. Now that Suzy is moving, she wants a fresh start at life she doesn't want to be her old reckless self anymore. She wants to be more like Rosie. So she puts her black, semi-gothic clothes in the back of her closet in exchange for more pastel colors. And she locks up her old wild and party-crazed attitude for a chance at straight A's and a good education.
Trying to fit in, she joins the Virginity Club, which is a pretty popular thing for the posh school that Suzy is now attending. The problem is, Suzy doesn't exactly meet the requirements, so she throws lies in others faces to try and make herself seem like someone she's not. It's not like anyone knows she's not truly a virgin. That is until Ryan, Suzy's ex-boyfriend shows up. If Ryan exposes her lies to the public, she could lose everything she's worked for at her new school.
This book contains so much more than what I had anticipated. Suzy is such an amazing character that I felt like I knew her on a personal level. She seems so vulnerable and yet tough at the same time, making me feel both sympathy and admiration towards her. And the background characters weren't lacking either; they were all unique in their own way. Ultimately, this book blew my expectations out of the water and replaced them with a touching story about a girl trying to be someone she's not, while still holding on to part of herself.

After Suzys seemingly perfect older sister, Rosie, dies in an accident, her family moves far across Australia to a different town, where they can start over. Suzy decides that this is her chance to be more what her parents wantmore like Rosie. She ditches her old wardrobe, works hard at school, doesnt get into any trouble, and surprisingly falls in with the popular crowd at her new schoola crowd very much unlike anyone she would have hung out with at her old school. These girls get good grades, do what their parents say, and are all even members of the virginity club. They want Suzy to join, too.
Only problem, is, she doesnt exactly qualify. It was only once, but, well, thats enough to lose you the virgin label. However, nobody at her new school knows that, so Suzy goes ahead and joins the virginity club, pledging to stay a virgin. However, it throws a wrench in her plans when her ex, Ryan, who knows firsthand that Suzy doesnt qualify, shows up in her new town.
THE SECOND VIRGINITY OF SUZY GREEN is a funny, engaging, and touching story that readers will surely love. Sara Hantz is great at creating realistic, memorable characters, Suzy of course being the best of them. This novel is a first-person narrative told in Suzys great voice, very well done. This is Sara Hantzs debut novel, and I look forward to reading her future work!

Suzy Green is many things: fun, crazy, and cool. But one of them is not a virgin. That is not what she tells are new friends at her new school. Suzy Green has moved to a small town in the outback after her sister dies, and her father gets a new job. She tries to by like her sister by getting good grades, doing her homework, and never yelling at her mom (I know impossible!). She even makes a few new friends and a hot guy (named Guy) is actually interested in her. Everything is perfect until Ryan, her ex-boyfriend, shows up. He knows a little secret about her so-called virginity. With the help of some new friends, and some old friends Suzy will finally find her self, and learn that she is perfect the way she is (virgin or not),
I loved this book. I read it in one sitting and could not put the book down. I think that flux has a hit with this book. I think Suzy is more like the modern girl. She has flaws and is not perfect. In some books they try to make the main character this perfect sweetheart who does not deserve what is happening to her, but in this book the characters. Reading this book is like hearing your best friend tell you the story of her like. It is fun, sweet, and hilarious. Sara Hantz really knows how to get into the teenage mind and tells us that we are okay just the way we are. Another great addition in teen chick lit and I hope to see more with this author.
