This sweet picture book biography covers Swift's life for the youngest fans, and would make a great gift for superfans who wants to share their love of this artist with children! We see young Taylor riding horses, making up stories, writing songs, and moving with her family to Nashville so that she can pursue her career in music. It briefly discusses some of the challenges that she faced, and how she overcame them with her tenacity and devotion to her purpose. Her close relationship with her fans, and the hidden contents of her songs is coveed briefly, as is her social activism. I particularly liked finding out that Ms. Swift uses even glitter, quill, or fountain pens to write down her lyrics.
Good Points
The pictures are rendered in a realistic style that is great for a biography of a modern person, and are created digitally. The palette is very pastel, with lots of lilac, green, pink and soft blue, which help the illustrations of Ms. Swift really pop, especially in the montage of her glittery stage costumes. There aren't a lot of words on each page, making this a good choice for read alouds.

There are no shortage of picture books about this pop music icon, and I highly recommend buying at least one for an avid fan, even if they are teens and don't read picture books as much as they used to. I would have loved to have a picture book from the 1960s about the Beatles to have read with my children when they were growing up! Consider this title along with Burk's The Story of Taylor Swift, Loggia's Taylor Swift: A Little Golden Book Biography, Odd and Catrinella's You Are Fearless: A Book for the Littlest Taylor Swift Fans, Michaels and Burrows' Love Is Taylor Swift, or Nhin's Taylor Swift: A Kid’s Book About Being Authentically Yourself (Mini Movers and Shakers).
