WHY DO CRABS WALK SIDEWAYS? is a clever picture book that answers some questions about sea creatures. The book includes the question along with a silly answer before flipping the page to reveal the real answers. The end of the book includes some other images of sea creatures along with cool facts.

What I loved: The book uses approachable language to teach some cool information about sea creatures to young children. While it does not go too deep into the detail, it does give some basics and the real reason for each of the questions (eg, why crabs walk sideways). This works well for young elementary school readers and gives them lots of cool facts to share.

The silly answers add to the fun along with the colorful illustrations that bring the creatures to life with plenty of personality. The book also includes some question tasks on each page spread for the reader, such as finding hidden animals or doing small tasks, which adds to the fun of the book, especially for younger readers.

Final verdict: WHY DO CRABS WALK SIDEWAYS? is a charming and informative picture book for children who love to know facts and enjoy sea creatures.

The synopsis says it all. Learn why crabs walk sideways and more from this adorable question and answer style, fully illustrated book, featuring a variety of sea creatures and lots of labels with names for young readers to find and learn. The amount of information is nicely tailored for little ocean enthusiasts 4-6 y.o. with interactive questions and jokes sprinkled in between.

Overall, it's a quick, informative read that's perfect for the budding marine biologist.
