Cluedle: The Case of the Dumpleton Diamond is the perfect book for reluctant readers and road trips! It is often difficult to get one of my readers to engage and pay attention, but with a few pages of text interspersed with logic puzzles, codes, and other activities, it is easy to stay focused. The storyline includes you as an aspiring detective trying to crack the case of the Dumpleton Diamond. It has many humorous names and situations that are entertaining during the text portion of the book.
Using the puzzles and codes, we also get math practice and other helpful review, all while having fun. It is helpful that the answers are included in the back. For the most part, the activities are easy to follow and great for younger Middle-Grade readers and up. We finished the book in three days, which is a triumph in speed compared to other books of its length that we have tried. It is a bit sad that the book can’t be reused. It made for an easy thing to pack while on vacation. With the book and a pencil, you have hours of entertainment. I am looking forward to the sequel.
