Engaging and Extensive
Mission Moon explores the history of our human need to understand the moon. There is a robust amount of information from the ancient names we called the moon, the stories we told, to the invention of the telescope, all the way through modern space programs. The book was inclusive in sharing all the countries that have played a part in the mission to space. The book detailed the people who have made great strides in advancing our knowledge of the moon and space. I am also pleased with the time it took to acknowledge and name the animals and people who died in the pursuit as well.
The cover has glow-in-the-dark lettering, and the pages are black with light lettering help set the atmosphere for this book. The tone of the book evokes a sense of awe and wonder at all we’ve learned and an interest in learning more about the subject. The book’s word choice struck the right balance of using the correct vocabulary and explaining things in simplified terms, making it easy to learn and follow along. The tiny details, such as how astronauts use the restroom, eat, bathe, sleep, and engage in recreation, contributed to making this an interesting read.
Overall, Mission Moon was an engaging and inclusive history about our human efforts and history regarding the moon and space.
