The story follows Billie, who takes on a fake identity to investigate what really happened to her sister, who is in a coma and accused of something terrible. As Billie steps into this new world of wealth and power, she quickly realizes that nothing is as simple as it seems. Everyone has something to hide, and the deeper she digs, the more dangerous things become. I actually read this over a few days at the bookstore I work at and ended up finishing it in three days because I kept picking it back up whenever I had time.

What really stood out to me was how layered the story is. It’s not just one mystery, there are multiple things going on at once, from what happened to Billie’s sister to the complicated history of her family. The boarding school setting makes everything feel more intense, almost like no one can escape each other, which adds to the tension. I liked Billie as a main character because she isn’t perfect. She’s tough and guarded, but you can tell she’s been through a lot, and that makes her actions feel understandable even when she makes questionable choices. The side characters also added a lot, especially the ones who seem suspicious but slowly reveal more about themselves.

I also liked how the story kept me guessing. Some parts I thought I had figured out, but others actually surprised me, especially toward the end. The pacing made it really easy to keep reading, and I never felt bored. If I had one small issue, it would be that the romance develops pretty quickly, but it didn’t take away from the mystery too much. My favorite parts were when Billie started connecting different pieces of information together and realizing how everything tied back to her sister. Those moments made the story feel more intense and rewarding. Overall, it’s a dramatic, twisty read that’s hard to put down once you get into it.
