Personally, I felt a little iffy about this novel, but with all the good reviews this book has been getting, maybe I'm judging a little too harshly. I don't even know why I'm forming an aversion to the novel, it's just that by the middle of the novel, I barely wanted to read it and then I had to force myself to finish the novel.
In the beginning of the novel, everything was fine. I was completely riveted to the story and everything was going great. Until the huge! surprise part came along and then it just went pfft!. I guess I just couldn't get over the concept of what had happened: not the sci-fi part, but moreover why it happened.
Otherwise, I see why everyone else praises the novel. The characters, especially, really shine out: they are completely real and made me laugh and ache with their actions and what happened.
I do know that I have to read the next one in the series, it's definitely addicting.
