Dispite Air Man's cliche nature, it remains a great book due to Colfer's writing style and the thrills that the original plot line provides. i would recommend this book to those who are unfamiliar with Colfers works as well as those who wish to explore more of his fine books.

Once
I got deeper into this book, I really couldn't put it down. It takes a
while before the action picks up and then I dug into the book quickly.
The ending was a little open-ended, but hey, not every book ends
completely in happily ever after I suppose.

This book has a kind of dark attitude but you can understand why with all that has happened to conor (the main character).  I really liked the idea of conor drawing his plans to make an airplane in his cell.  The detail and characters in this book shows how great an author Colfer.

Oh. My. Gosh! This HAS TO be my all-time favourite book! Of course, after I read a really good book, I say it's my favourite, but then I forget about it after a while, but really, this book was fantastic.

It tells the tale of Conor Broekhart, in the late 1800's, who was born in a hot air balloon. I loved everything about Conor. His determination, his brain, his courage! Hugo Bonvilain is the 'bad guy' in this book, and I can't say I hate him, for without his villainous plans, I would never have loved this book. Bonvilain murders the king, Isabella's father. Isabella is a very good childhood friend of Conor's. When Bonvilain murders the king, he frames Conor, but with Conor dressed differently and looking differently, so Conor's father did not recognize him. Bonvilain told Conor's father that he was dead. Therefore, Conor thought his father was angry and wanted to kill him, while Conor's father thought Conor was dead. He is sent from Great Saltee to Little Saltee, named a lunatic. After years of planning, he flies to victory,and of course, to trouble.

I loved Conor and Isabella's reunion, and I wish I were there, I seriously do. Or I wish they could be here. Either way, this book is an excellent read and I'm recommending it to you now, so read it, or you'll be sad because you will have just missed a quarter of your life!

Young Conor Broekhart really has it going for himhe has a smart mother, his father is captain of the guard, he trains and is mentored by a genius by the name of Victor Vigny, he is close friends with Princess Isabella, he is the toast of the town because of his innovative rescue of the Princess, and best of all, he was born in a hot air balloon! Perhaps because he was born in the sky, Conor Broekhart was destined to return to the skies.

Since an early age, Conor looked to the skies, always pondering how he could soar above Great Saltee, his home, thinking up glider and other aircraft designs. Luckily, he is under the tutelage of Victor Vigny, who is no stranger to the skiesin fact, he was in the hot air balloon with the Broekhart family when Conor was born! Conor is taught martial arts, fencing, Shakespeare, among other things, and his fellow student is none other than Princess Isabella. And ever since saving Princess Isabellas life from a fire by taking to the skies, Conor is the golden boy of the present and future on the island of Great Saltee.

Unfortunately for Conor, his golden days are numberedat the young age of fourteen, he becomes the witness of the assassination of Good King Nick of the Saltee islands, as well as the death of his mentor, Victor. Both were by the hand of the mad and ambitious Red Cross Marshal, Bonvilain. Young Broekhart is soon entangled in Bonvilains webs of treachery as he tries to expose the marshals treason, only to find himself locked up in Little Saltee, the prison island, doomed to digging for diamonds in inhumane conditions, for the rest of his life. Bonvilain has accused of him of helping Victor murder the king, and has even managed to get Conors father to hate him.

Locked away as Conor Finn, young Broekhart wont be any trouble any more, right? Wrong! Theres trouble for evil brewing up ahead, and as for escaping jail, what better way to do it than to fly? Freedom and vengeance might not be so far away after all&

The adventures of the swash-buckling scientist a.k.a. Conor, reminded me strongly of a favorite classic of mine, the Count of Monte Cristo. So if there are any other Count of Monte Cristo fans out there, give this book a try! And Id also recommend this book to all readers looking for a good adventure! Conor is a very admirable character that stuck to his morals and displayed great strength even in the darkest times! The characters were very well developed in this book, and Airman was quite an enjoyable novel in general. Eoin Colfer fans will love his latest novel!
