This is the second prequel novel in the Random House series exploring how Sydney Bristow became an SD-6 agent. It contains many firsts for the budding covert operative: first alias, first real crush, first real enemy, and first real mission.

When Wilson sends her off to Paris to work undercover, Sydney has no idea that she'll be playing the part of a trophy wife to Noah Hicks. He's the attractive hunk of an agent that she's been noticing in the hallways since she first started her job. Now she's alone with him and pretending to be his wife in the one of the most romantic cities in the world.

But the honeymoon doesn't last for long when their cover is somehow blown (this is my only beef with the book -- just how did their cover get blown? The author doesn't answer this question) and they are literally running and swimming for their lives.

Sydney proves herself after a somewhat rocky start and comes up with a solution that saves the day (maybe not the world, but that's another mission entirely). At the end of the book, we're left with a tantalizing glimpse inside Noah's head that promises interesting things to come.

As I mentioned in my review of the first book in the series, this is a great read for serious fans as well as those interested in thrillers or spy novels. Finally women have a spy they can look up to, instead of one they'd just like to date.
