In Susan Juby's "Alice McLeod, Realist At Last" the main character Alice has to say goodbye to her boyfriend Goose (not his real name) who is leaving for Scotland, deal with her mother going to jail for protesting at a mining facility, get a job, and start her new dream job as a screenplay writer.
This is a very funny book between Alice's misadventures at her jobs and her plots for the screenplay she is making. But it also has a touch of realism with her confusion with new boufriends and dealing with them. I enjoyed the book.
Great read.
