This book is a really inspiring but addicting story. It has the qualities of a novel but you still read it and feel like you want to help the people of Uganda and Africa. Heather Barlow leaves her perfect world that most of us live in ourselves to join a mission group headed for Africa. The two sides of society around the world are portrayed as Heather learns that it's more enjoyable to be helping people than to have everything materialistic available to you but be oblivious to those who need your help. Most of us now in the U.S. have heard about the problems with African cities but the enchanting book really get you thinking about what you could do to help out the rest of the world.
I enjoyed this book because it pulled you in for two reasons. The first reason is because you get interested in Heather and the effects she is having on other people. She really started out wanting to help change someone's life for the better and that makes for a very unique character compared to most teenagers today. The second reason why I liked this book was because Lurlene McDaniel was able to spread such a powerful message in a simple storyline of a novel. This book was made for teenagers to read so the tone isn't too serious. Heather makes friends and falls in love which is always something fun to read about.
I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn a little more about the African world or someone who just wants to pick up a book and get hooked on it. This books showed me that anyone can make a difference if they just take the chance to stop and help out those who have nothing.

Angel of Mercy was one of my fave books from Lurlene McDaniel. As a big fan of Lurlene McDaniel's work, I happen to know that she is a great writer and she's very capable of writing good books. And this is a prime example of great writing. I really liked it because of the chemistry between Heather and Ian. She explaned it so well I felt like I was a part of it. She is a special writer. I really like her books.
