This is an economic and philosophical tale of a time in America where society is facing economic hardships.  The more the government tried to regulate business, the worse things get.  Eventually, a large group of business owners get sick and tired of these regulations and go on strike.  And then, things get even worse.  It is because these business owners are the idea makers and smart people who can get things done.  This is a big book but worth every page of it.  Don't be put off by its size.  It has great characters and shows the political side of objectivism.  And it does make one think...
