Audrey, Wait!
User reviews
One thing I really did enjoy was Audrey’s best friend, Victoria. I loved that she basically wasn’t afraid of anything and didn’t mind giving anyone and everyone a piece of her mind. Plus, you almost never see characters in serious relationships in YA, especially when it comes to the best friend, but Victoria and Jonah were pretty cute.
For some reason, Audrey herself just wasn’t a hit with me. I understand the crazy situation she was put in, but man, did she have to be so whiny all the time? It seemed like she was just complaining for a good ¾ of the book.
The Nutshell: Overall, I did enjoy Audrey, Wait! but I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as all the hype would lead me to think. If you’re looking for a quick, fun read though, this will definitely fit the bill.
And this story line was new! I love reading a fresh book that is like no other!
This book is absolutely ah-mazing! 16 yr old Audrey breaks up with her up and coming rockstar boyfriend. Evan (the boyfriend) writes a song about her. Soon enough his song is climbing up the charts. Evan and his band aren't the only famous ones either...Audrey soon has her own fan club. Will Audrey break under the pressure or will she stay strong until the excitement dies down. Read Audrey, Wait! to find out.
You know that song " Hey, Delilah" by the Plain White T's? Audrey, Wait! kind of reminds me of that song. Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway is the story of Audrey, a regular girl that breaks up with her musician boyfriend, who then writes a hit song about her. She's not so normal after that! When "Delilah" came out a few years ago, the press was clambering for information about THE Delilah. I think there was even a story about her in Entertainment Weekly. The same thing happens to Audrey. Her life is taken over by papparazzi, crazy fans, and picture-taking classmates. Her life goes from flirting with James, her Scooper Dooper co-worker and going to concerts with her best friend Victoria, to hiding out in bathrooms and being a YouTube phenomenon. It is one heck of a ride!
I loved the concept of the book. I loved Audrey and her friends! The story moves very quickly and the writing is fresh, light, and hilarious! I love the sarcastic comments and pop culture references! I didn't love the language. I definitely could have done without all the F-bombs. This book is definitely for older readers. If you can get past the language though, it's a pretty sweet and entertaining ride!
From inside book: While trying to score a date with her cute co-worker at Scooper Dooper, sixteen-year-old Audrey gains unwanted fame and celebrity status when her ex-boyfriend, a rock musician, records a breakup song her that soars to the top of the Billboard charts.
Favorite characters, quote/lines: Audrey: She was an awesome character, very real; James: I really liked him, at first I wasnt sure about him, but as the story went on and more details about him were revealed, he became one of my favorite characters
When I finished this book I felt: Wow! I definitely should have read this book sooner, it was an amazing read! Audrey was a character that was full of life and someone that I could have went to school with! Robin Benway is an author to watch!!
I would recommend this book to: teen fiction/romance fans
Other books by this author: this is Benways first novel
Holy frickerson. I can barely get out the words...Awesome, amazing, fantastic, hilarious..wow..Audrey was one of the funniest characters ever, she could be sad or having troubles and the next thing you know she cracking a joke or being sarcatic. She had the best sense of humor which went great with the storyline. I've never read something so original that WASN'T fantasy. It was obvious that this wouldn't likely happen but it wasn't impossible. I will admit that Audrey, Wait! was mostly fluff, but grade A fluff at that. I never got bored or strayed from reading. It felt like I had an adiction. I'd start readng in class instead of taking notes, I just couldn't stop. The rest of the characters were also awesome. You kind of wanted to be mad at Evan for making Audrey have to go through all the trouble to even attempt a new relationship. Sometimes it was hard to decipher that new relationship though. You never really know why it happened. Another problem was that the time frame was wacky. You could be reading one part and next thing you know weeks have passed. Still I loved Audrey and all she stood for. Overall I think Audrey, Wait! is a novel everyone should read sometime. It's the kind of book you'll read again and again just for the laughs.
One word: AWESOME!
I read a blurb - could have been on the cover, I can't remember - that says this book is like a song you can't get out of your head. And it's so true! I'll warn you now, if you've got some plans, don't try reading this book because you're not going to be able to put it down.
Audrey tells you straight out how it all happened, what made her life do a complete 180 when her douche ex wrote a song about her. Going through high school sucks any ways (yeah been there, done that). Being the center of discussion (especially if it's bad - and you know it usually is) really sucks. With witty Audrey and her trusty side kick Victoria, they can take it all on, right? Well...that part you'll just have to see. Each chapter in this book kept getting better whether. There are a million and one reasons why I loved it so much. From the fast pace up beat humor to the snappy dialogue, and to my favorite - the music! You'll be tapping your foot and bopping your head in now time! Also you'll laugh your silly butt off and who doesn't enjoy doing that?
Audrey decides to dump her musician boyfriend, Evan, one day, and thinks that will be that.
But, that's not how it goes. This causes Evan to write a break-up song, and all of a sudden, her ex is famous for his song "Audrey, wait!" But he's not the only one who is famous all of a sudden. The entire world now knows who Aubrey is and they are obessesed.
This is the story of how Audrey deals with this newfound and unwanted fame.
The book is really cute and a fun read.
Audrey is a normal teenager, except for one thing, her ex-boyfriend has written a song about her that is toping the top 100 charts. So in between trying to ditch the paparazzi and trying to get to know the cute guy, James, that works at the Scooper Dooper, will she be able to live her life and not crack under being "America's favorite music siren"? Read it and find out!
I liked Audrey's story it was fast and it was catchy (like a good song if you ask me). Audrey is a very real character, she acts just how a normal teenager would act, smarty with lots of come backs. I would reccomend anyone who likes newer YA books to check out this one now!
Audrey, Wait is a romantic comedy about a girl named Audrey who breaks up with her boyfriend and he writes a song about it. And eventually the hole world is privy into her life and their break up. Audrey's life is invariably turned inside out. Suddenly people know of her and bands are taking interests in her as their 'muse'. At first it all seems great for Audrey. Bands give her and her friends exclusive access, she gets to meet some of the most heppening names in music, and she gets claim to almost instant notoreity. But when all of that backfires Audrey isn't so sure she wants to be noticed simply because of a breakup song. This book is a great quick read that had me laughing out loud, sometimes scaring the people around me with my burst of laughter. It is witty, fun, relatable and irresistably sincere. You'll find that you have something in common with the characters of this story: you'll have Audrey, Wait stuck in yout head too!
