Lauren has everything a girl could ask for good friends, decent grades, and a boyfriend that most girls want. She knows how lucky she is. She does not expect a big miracle to happen and make things perfect. And she definitely did not expect Evan Kirkland to appear after all these years.
Her mom left their family when Lauren was six years old. After that, Laurens dad had new girlfriends all the time, including Mary, Evans mother. So, when Evan reappears at her school, it brings back not only old emotions and memories, but new emotions, too. She cannot deny that she is attracted to him, but she sure tries. After all, she has a good life she has some friends (who either do not open up to her or accept her only because of her boyfriend), good grades (including that C in Geometry and not to mention failing World History), and the perfect boyfriend who loves her (because she respects his faith and his limits) doesnt she?
Elizabeth Scott presents this story of teen love in Bloom as perfectly as if she went through the story along with her characters (and she brought me along, too!) I absolutely love, love, LOVED the characters and their own little unique traits. Her writing brings this story to the reader that is as unforgettable as our own. I have high expectations for her novel Perfect You.

Lauren has a good life: decent grades, great friends, and a boyfriend every girl lusts after. So why is she so unhappy? It takes the arrival of Evan Kirkland for Lauren to figure out the answer: She's been holding back. She's been denying herself a bunch of things (like sex) because staying with her loyal and gorgeous boyfriend, Dave, is the "right" thing to do. After all, who would give up the perfect boyfriend? But as Dave starts talking more and more about their life together, planning a future Lauren simply can't see herself in -- and as Lauren's craving for Evan, and moreover, who she is with Evan becomes all the more fierce -- Lauren realizes she needs to make a choice...before one is made for her.

Just finished this. I've read at least a dozen books that have the same plot. Girl has perfect boyfriend. New boy moves to town. Girl falls for new boy. Same old, same old. It was good and there were some interesting characters but overall it was the same as a whole ton of books I've read. But, you know, if thats what your looking for and like, then this is a good book. 2 out of 4 stars.

This is one of my all time favorite young adult love stories. It tells a story about a not-so-popular junior, Lauren, who's father is never around along with a mother who abandoned her at an early age. Lauren finds security from her ever popular boyfriend, Dave. Dave is sweet to her and always talking about their future together, someone anyone would feel safe with. She was most happy with him until the day that a loner boy who was the son of her dad's past girlfriend shows up. His mystery draws Lauren away from Luke and into the hands of Evan. This book is a quick read, one hard to put down once you've started. I truly enjoyed it.

Lauren has what she thinks everyone's always dreams of- a popular boyfriend. And Lauren's happy, too.

At least for a while. Then, Evan, her former step-brother steps back into her life. And awakes new emotions in her. What she feels for Evan is what she should but doesn't feel for her boyfriend, Dave.

Slowly she finds herself living a lie as she avoids her best friend and boyfriend to spend more and more time with Evan. Lauren doesn't know what to do...

Elizabeth Scott's novel is short but sweet. She portrays Lauren in a realistic way, keeping her as a memorable character. In fact, this novel reminded a bit of Sarah Dessen's writing.

Lauren is not very popular, but she is dating one of the most popular guys in school. Her life seems perfect, but she feels like something is missing. The son of one of the women her dad used to date, Evan, moves back into town with his mother and she has a class with him. She is drawn to him and starts finding excuses to hang out with Evan. She feels happier with Evan, but doesn't want to break up with her boyfriend. Lauren feels pressured to stay with him because that is what she thinks she is supposed to want.

Lauren is one of those characters that feels very real but makes you want to yell at her for her decisions. Her conflict over her boyfriend is very believable and well written, and I can definitely see this kind of situation playing out the way it does in the book, but her actions made me so mad sometimes it lessened my enjoyment of the story. A very angsty romance.

Bloom is about a girl that has the perfect boyfriend but she really doesn't want him. She really wants Evan and he wants her too! It gets even MORE complicated than that, too. the whole time I was rooting for Evan and Lauren to get together, but I was also rooting for Dave because he was just so nice!
This book was pretty good.I would recommend it to fans of Ya Romance.

How do you choose between a perfect life and being happy. Lauren has a tough choice. She seems to have a great life. Friends, grades, a boyfriend that seems to only get better with passing days. But an arrival from her past, makes her perfect world seems to not be enough, or atleast not what she wants in life. Now she has to find out what she wants, to be the girl every girl wants to be, or go after what might be all she needs.

"Lauren has a good life: decent grades, great friends, and a boyfriend every girl drools over. So why is she so unhappy?
It takes the arrival of Evan Kirkland in class for Lauren to figure out the answer: She's been holding back. She's been denying herslef a bunch of things - like sex - because staying with her ever-conservative, yet ever-loyal (and did we mention gorgeous?) boyfriend, Dave is the "right" thing. Lauren doesn't want to end up like her mother, though, who indulged her desire for risk and adventure and ran away when Lauren was a mere tot. But as Dave starts talking more and more about their life together through college and even beyond, all perfectly perfect - and as Lauren's craving for Evan and, moreover, who she is with Evan becomes all the more fierce - Lauren realizes what she needs to do. She needs to let go, and take the ride."

I loved, loved, loved this book! I could relate to the characters easily and could even envision them as people I knew. Lauren was a loveable heroine... and she made the right choice (eventually!).
