Summer camp usually means fun away from parents where you meet and make new friends and memories. But something isn't quite right at Camp Fielding. Jenna and Lucas are sent there after a mysterious man appears at both of their homes, offering a chance to unleash their hidden potentials. Once there both Jenna and Lucas sense something isn't right. Secretive counselors, feathers everywhere, gross food, and dead baby birds only intensify the creepiness of the camp. At first Jenna and Lucas don't care for each other. Jenna thinks Lucas is a gangbanger wannabe and Lucas thinks Jenna is a nerd. Can they put aside their differences in time to find out what's really going on at camp before it gets them?

This story reminds me of those urban legends kids tell each other over a campfire. All the elements of a spooky tale are here--dead birds, gross at times revelations, and secrets. Jenna isn't the stereotypical smart Asian teen. She doesn't follow the other campers but instead listens to her gut feelings. Lucas breaks from the troubled kid of a single mother cliche by reaching out to a nerdy camp mate. I liked the creepy feel of this novel though at times some of the grisly scenes kind of surprised me.

Still this is a fun graphic novel which has a B movie feel at times. Campy and humorous, this is one tale you can tell over a campfire. Just make sure it's not too dark or no loose feathers are around.
