So funny and so true. Helen fielding's Bridget Jones is an every girl who shows you don't have to be a size zero to be happy with who you are(even though Bridget spends the entire length of the book trying to slim down)
although, if you are prone to a low self esteem, Bridget might be a bad influence on you. she's funny, yes. but she's also self deprecating and neurotic. so watch yourself.

One of the funniest books I've ever read. The best part is, it doesn't sound like it's TRYING to be funny - more like it just is.

The whole book is written in diary-format from the perspective of a thirty-something woman called Bridget Jones. Mark Darcy is without a doubt one of the most desirable men ever invented; I find myself constantly praying for a real-life Mark Darcy to stride into my life - pompous dry wit and all.

Bridget takes us with her through a year of her life, full of amusing antics with her friends (Shazzer, Jude and Tom), parents, love interests, and many bottles of wine.

She's desperate to meet the man of her dreams, but will she? And will she EVER quit smoking?

VERY enjoyable. Read it now!

This is the diary of a 30-something desperate woman on relationships and jobs. Confusing and contradictory, it is also highly amusing. Bridget Jones is obsessive and her diary tells of affairs, diets, being a singleton, and wild drunken nights with friends.

A hilarious must read, recommended to those who love the Georgia Nicholson series.

HEALTH WARNING: Adopting Bridget's lifestyle could seriously damage your health.

Definitely one of my favorite books. The story is all about a thirty-something single in London, who among having weight and imaginary problems, can't find a boyfriend. Packed with British humour and lets everyone see a little part of oneself in Bridget. Heart-warming and absolutely fabulous.

The best way to describe this novel is "cute." I enjoyed it, though I wouldn't read it again. It's funny and lighthearted, and the characters are endearing. I would recommend it to a freshman or sophomore in high school. Read it on the beach, and then go see the movie on a rainy day. It won't change your life, but they say laughter is good for the heart!

Short summary: This book is about Bridget Jones, woman who is about thirty years old.
She lives usual life, like other women do, but she is not married. Later, she decides to write a diary. Where she counts calories, alcohol units, cigarettes smoked, lottery instants bought and times dialled 1471. Bridget has a crush on her boss, Cleaver, and her mum has chosen her a man called Darcy.
In my opinion, in this book every women, and girl my age(I am 15), can find a bit of herself in Bridget.
Settings: Bridget Joness diary is set in London, England.
Descriptions of main characters: Bridget Jones- a thirty year old women, not married, a bit alcoholic, and can't quite seem to get anything right, but for whom life magically all works out in the end. Darcy is a rich lawyer, who is pretty strict, but has a very nice heart. Cleaver is Bridgets Boss, who is not very sincere, and he most of the time has several affairs (including Bridget) at once. Bridgets best friend is Tom, who is a gay. Her mum, who is always trying to get her a boyfriend.
What I liked about this book:I like that this book is written in a bit humorous way and that there are so many situations like women face today. That means that this book is not a fantasy book.
What I did not like about this book: I didnt like about this book places where she really acted very senseless.

I don't see what all the hype with this book comes from, but as it has been said before, this book is one you can literally laugh out loud at. Bridget Jones is the typical female still at boggle about her life and how to control her every fluctuating weight. At first all this is in good fun, but page after page of these topics begin to wear the book thin. Not memorable, but just something to read for the moment.
