Senior year is supposed to be a breeze. But for Mary Jane Ettermeyer, the drama is just beginning.
All of her friends seem to think that Mary Jane is a boyfriend stealer. The boyfriend in question is Jackson House, the most attractive guy at school. But even though she could totally get lost in his dreamy brown eyes, Mary Jane is sure that there is absolutely nothing going on between them. They only left the party for a couple of minutes, to get pop for crying out loud! And now, all of a sudden, everyone thinks shes an easy girl who goes after other peoples boyfriends.
To make matters worse, Jackson is dating Star Simons, only the most vicious (and most beautiful) girl in the school. Star happens to be the ringleader of Mary Janes group of friends. And Mary Jane really doesnt want to get on Stars bad side.
So why is she still so attracted to Jackson? So attracted that she just cant seem to stay away from him. And hes giving her all the signs that say hes just as interested in her.
The internal dialogue between Mary Janes two sides, MJ and Plain Jane, is so amusing to see. Plain Jane is the logical, rational one, whom her parents love and adore. While MJ is the wild and uninhibited one, confident that she can get the guy without losing her friends.
The two sides of Mary Jane really ring true with me. I think everyone has multiple personalities, and you need to listen to all of your personalities before making a big decision. With her complicated situation with Jackson, it seems like MJ is winning more often than not. Will Mary Janes two personalities cooperate to help her through the disarray of first love? Or will Mary Jane do something that both her personalities regret?
