Aiden is new to town and isn’t very happy about the recent move until he wanders into the woods to find a hidden well. Anytime that Aiden is with this well, he feels like he can be himself and complain about the school bullies. This is all great until the well decides to take revenge on behalf of Aiden, and once Aiden is aware of this, he decides he has to get help to stop the ghost from creating chaos around town.

What I Liked: This book begins by introducing you to a sad and lonely Aiden, who is being tormented at school by bullies. These moments are frustrating as no one is stepping in to help him deal with these other kids. At first, this book reads as humorous as the wishing well ghoul gets revenge on all of the bullies, and then suddenly there are twists and turns as the ghoul is now against Aiden and the rest of the town. It’s these moments where tension builds up in the story as you worry if Aiden is going to be able to save the town.

There are a few illustrations throughout this book that bring the ghoulish creature from the well to life and give you a glimpse at what other moments of the story would look like. The illustrations do a great job of moving the story along and allowing you to see what Aiden is experiencing as the story moves forward.

Final Verdict: Creepers: The Wishing Well is a thrilling, spooky, and fun story for children ages 10 and up that will have them on the edge of their seats to see how Aiden is going to solve the problem he may have created. Children ages 10 and up will enjoy the mix of humor and scary moments throughout this book, and they’ll delight in the moments that Aiden is able to rest because the bullies are getting a taste of their own medicine.
