Cynthia and Gus are back, and this time theyre off to the circus. Using the magic trunk in Cynthias attic, the pair once more travel back to 1914, this time to follow their grandmothers to the circus. Once there they happen to end up on the wrong side of the circus tent, and are forced into work by Blackie, the creepy head clown.

Just when the girls are about to give up hope of ever being free of the circus troupe, they become involved with the mystery of a missing magical medallion. This family treasure is what has been keeping the girls out of trouble (more or less) during their time travels. Without it, theyll be stuck in 1914 forever.

Both Gus and Cynthia quickly agree to find the medallion, a trip that takes them to a flooded cave in 1934. Without the medallion, they may not be able to return home, but how are they supposed to find a missing necklace in the middle of a forest fire? Gus, for one, is determined not to give up. After all, she needs to be back in time for dinner!

Everyone who enjoyed the first installment of the duos adventure are sure to find satisfaction in this fast-paced sequel. Gus and Cynthias friendship is truly genuine, and readers will be able to relate to their friendly chatter. The Magic Medallion is a quick and enjoyable read, especially recommended for those girls aged 8 and up.
