Fifteen-year-old
Zira has been raised in the House of God, following the brutal death of
her family she doesn't remember. With her face badly burned from a
terrible accident from her childhood, Zira trains to be a warrior,
sworn to protect the great temple. When her humble village and temple
are attacked, Zira is told she is something much more than just a
normal girl. Her destiny forces her to undertake desperate measures to
free her people from a tyrant king, and lead her people to safety, all
the while trusting a man who should be her enemy.
This book was very
engaging, and had a very strong main character. Girl's with swords are
freaking awesome!;) I really liked how Zira progressed throughout the
story, and came to accept who she was, and what she stood for. Vivid
descriptions from the author, and believeable characters. A wonderful
story, with a fast pace which made it hard to put down. Can't wait for
more from this author!
