Lauren has come home seven years after her mom's mysterious drowning. It has also been seven years since she's seen her godmother, Aunt Jule and Aunt Jule's two daughters, Nora who's two years older and Holly, who's a year older.
Lauren finds Holly to be hostile, and a rival to her childhood friend Nick's affections. Nora is withdrawn and spooky and things start happening. When Lauren finds herself the object of a number of scary "accidents," she knows something is wrong.
Elizabeth Chandler is a competent writer of young adult novels, but her other books in the series are more interesting. Certain things happen in the book that really make it a kind of downer. The best parts of the book are the interactions between Nick and Lauren. This is an okay mystery, but not Chandler's best.
