I think that this book is one of the greatest books ever written about the Holocaust it tells you all the destruction that happened to one single Jewish family. It is very honest and shows you what ONE Jewish kid went through. It truly s a great book!!!!

This is a book about a young Jewish boy and how he manages during WWII. It is really sad because he is seperated from his family and in the end he dies. I liked it a lot.
I think this is a good book for middle schoolers...mainly 8th graders.
This book is similar to Child of the Holocaust.

Summary
The characters in this book that I read are Friedrich Schneider, Frau Schneider, Herr Schneider, Friedrichs friend, and Friedrichs friends mother and father.Friedrich mother and father is Frau and Herr. They live in an appartment on the second floor.Friedrichs friend and his parents live on the first floor off the appartment, right under Friedrichs appartment.
Friedrich and his friend are both young, and go to school together.A problem is that Friedrichs friends grandfather said that he didn't want his grandson to be seen with a jew. That didn't stop the two boys from being friends so they remaind friends.Twards the end of the end of the book Friedrichs mother became sick. The doctor tried to help her but it was to late she was dead.
Opinion
My favorite character is Friedrich because the in the book he was caring, for example when his mother became sick he sat next to her to keep her company.I enjoyed this book except for when his mother died and on Freidrichs doctors door said something mean about Jews.
Recommendations
I would actually recommend this book to anyone even though it was a classic novel of the Holocaust. The book was fairly easy and I enjoyed it a lot.I would think that the gender could br male or female.
