Geek Magnet is a story that anyone who has been through high school can relate to. Whether you were a jock, a geek, popular or somewhere in the between. Everyone knows what it’s like to have a crush on someone who you have never spoken too, to want to be a little bit more cool. Well this is exactly what KJ Miller is going through, but to make matters worse she is constantly being pestered by geeks. When she gets picked to be the stage manager for the schools spring musical, Grease, she has a whole new outlook on life. But where KJ goes, geeks are sure to follow.
Finally seeing her way into the popular crowd, she seizes this moment. Her ticket is through Tama Gold “Queen of the popular crowd” and star of the musical. Tama is ready to help KJ get rid of the geeks and win over her crush Cameron.
KJ and Cameron get closer, Tama and KJ become friends and the musical soon starts to fall apart.
And if all that isn’t enough for a high school student to handle, there is still a secret she has kept from everyone except her best friend. Her family. An alcoholic father who is like a time bomb, a mother who doesn’t know what to do about anything and a little brother who is scared most of the time.
When her family matters collide with her personal life everything goes to hell. The star of the show quits the day before the play, her mother is in denial about her father and worst of all, KJ’s first kiss is a complete disaster.
Read the book to find out if KJ can win the guy of her dreams, ditch the geeks and have a happy family.
